NEW GUIDELINES

Beginning JANUARY 1ST, 2025, if a Candidate is wishing to sit for the VTNE  he/she will have to contact the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) office.  The AAVSB will now assume all administrative responsibility necessary to determine candidates eligibility for the VTNE examination.  Once a candidate has sit for his/her VTNE, scores will then be sent to the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, if the candidate has requested such.

If an individual upon successful completion of the VTNE wishes to be granted an LVT License in the State of Alabama, he/she will have to fill out an Alabama LVT License Application and pay the fee of $100.00.  Individuals will have to provide to the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (ASBVME) all documentation that is requested on the cover of the letter (or that is listed below) of the Alabama LVT License Application, before an LVT License may be granted.

  • Alabama LVT Application
  • Citizenship Form
  • Two head shot photos of yourself
  • A copy of your diploma or a letter form the Licensed Veterinary Technician Program in which you have or will be graduating from with their school seal applied on it, stating that you have or will be graduating and the date in which your graduation has/will occur.
  • Check or money order in the amount of $100.00 made payable to the ASBVME.
